Rizla Suzuki MotoGP team for 2006

Suzuki have announced today a two year partnership with the Rizla rolling papers brand, for sponsorship of their MotoGP team. The Rizla liveried bike will be unveiled at the Catalunya IRTA test which begins at the end of this week.

BMW to continue MotoGP Partnership

A press release issued today by Dorna confirms that BMW will be continuing their partnership with the series until 2009. The German car manufacturer will remain the safety car supplier for the next four years and will continue its 'BMW M Award' which awards a shiny new Z4 to both the quickest rider at the Catalunya IRTA test next month and the quickest qualifying rider over the course of the season.
 

Stoner will race in Jerez

Having pulled out of the Sepang test just over a week ago with a shoulder injury, Casey Stoner has now undergone surgery. The LCR Honda rider has had a bit of a lucky escape, as he will be fit just in time for the first race of the season in Jerez next month.

It seems that when the subject is Rossi going to Formula One, everyone has an opinion, including F1 champ Fernando Alonso who was quoted by BBC Motorsport as saying, "He might finish fifth or even get on the podium some time, but I could do the same on the bikes if I was given a bit of time to practise."

LCR Honda rider Casey Stoner has pulled out of the Sepang test today due to injury. An old shoulder injury reappeared during a physical training session last week and Stoner will now return to Australia for specialist treatment.
 

Hopkins continues to show impressive speed

Team Suzuki MotoGP rider John Hopkins has continued to show impressive pace today at the Sepang circuit. During his 44 laps, the Anglo-American rider improved on yesterday's time by a quarter of a second and was again fourth quickest.
 

Further difficulties for Gibernau in Malaysia

After yesterday's gearbox problems Sete Gibernau would have been hoping his bad luck was out of the way, but a stomach complaint meant the Ducati rider had another shortened day of testing, completing only 17 laps before returning to his hotel.

Testing in Sepang was cut short today by a storm at around 3:30pm, but not before Kawasaki rider Shinya Nakano could put in a lap time almost three seconds quicker than his previous best, to go fastest on the ZX-RR.

For the Suzuki MotoGP team, today is the end of the Qatar test. Despite having had one less day of track time, the Yamaha team continue to top the timesheets with Valentino Rossi achieving an unofficial lap record of a 1 minute 56.53.

The Suzuki team have concluded their penultimate private pre-season test today at the Losail circuit in Qatar. Both riders completed full race length runs on their new GSV-Rs to finish the test, with relative MotoGP rookie Chris Vermeulen improving by almost three seconds on his best lap on Sunday.
