Heading into the US MotoGP it's no surprise to hear some fighting talk from the American riders. Colin Edwards says that if it comes down to another scrap between himself and Nicky Hayden then he knows he 'can come out on top this time'. Valentino Rossi has said 'I learnt a lot' last year - not what the locals will want to hear. |

Valentino Rossi has moved into second place in the championship following a dramatic race win at the Sachsenring circuit. The Italian rider started the race in 10th place, having said after qualifying that he needed a 'great job from the mechanics' on Saturday night if he was going to be able to chase the lead group, let alone challenge for the lead. |
Dani Pedrosa has taken his second pole position in as many races today at the Sachsenring. The Spanish rider beat Kenny Roberts' time on the KR211V by just 9 hundredths of a second, achieving a 1'21.815 lap. |
Marco Melandri has gone fastest during today's free practice sessions at the Sachsenring in Germany, despite recently learning that he has a broken collarbone. The Fortuna rider is still recovering after his crash at Catalunya a little under a month ago but in his words 'the worst is over'. Watch out Hayden, Pedrosa & Rossi then? |

As we head into the German MotoGP weekend the 2006 championship has past it's half-way point with 10 races completed and 9 remaining. Despite having just the one win to his name this year Nicky Hayden is still at the top of the points table, but Repsol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa and one Valentino Rossi are closing in on his lead. Can the Kentucky Kid get another win in Germany and put a bigger gap between himself and the competition or will an on-form Rossi be too quick to beat? |
After completely dominating the British GP race weekend Dani Pedrosa says he is happy about his 'almost perfect' weekend. Meanwhile, Valentino Rossi thought his second place 'felt like a win' as it was 'an amazing race and a very important result'. |

Dani Pedrosa picked up the second win of his MotoGP career yesterday in sunny (honestly!) England. The Spanish rider turned a comfortable pole position into a dominant race lead, eventually reaching the chequered flag some 4 seconds ahead of second place man Valentino Rossi. |
Following an impressive performance in free practice on Friday, Dani Pedrosa has taken pole position for the 2006 British MotoGP with a 1'27.676 - a full half a second quicker than Chris Vermeulen in second. Once again the Suzukis have put in a good qualifying performance for 2nd and 4th and once again Rossi has not, in 12th. |
Dani Pedrosa went fastest in both of today's free practice sessions at the UK's Donington Park circuit. The Spanish rider's best lap, a 1'28.970, just beat Suzuki's John Hopkins on the timesheets but overall there was less than a second between the top 10 riders, demonstrating just how competitive MotoGP has become. |
Nicky Hayden took the second win of his MotoGP career in Assen on Saturday, following a dramatic last lap battle with Yamaha's Colin Edwards. Edwards led for almost the entire race, but when both riders ran wide at the last corner Hayden managed to run across the gravel and get back to the track upright whilst Edwards crashed out, eventually finishing in 13th. |
John Hopkins took his first ever MotoGP pole position today in Holland. The Anglo-American rider managed to beat Kawasaki's Shinya Nakano by just 0.013 of a second to secure his qualifying spot, with Colin Edwards qualifying in third, having been at the top of the timesheets during most of the sessions so far. |
During yesterday's free practice sessions for the Assen TT both Valentino Rossi and Toni Elias suffered nasty crashes whilst Colin Edwards went fastest. |
Valentino Rossi picked up his second race win in a row on Sunday in Catalunya. The Italian rider took a comfortable win in a race that had to be restarted due to a nasty first corner crash that saw 5 bikes head into the gravel. Marco Melandri, Sete Gibernau and Loris Capirossi were all injured and it currently looks as though Capirossi may be the only rider of the three that will be able to race in Assen this weekend. |
After a 2 week break between races the MotoGP circus is back on Spanish soil, for the seventh round of the 2006 championship. The scene is set for a great race: The top four riders in the championship are split by just 13 points, Valentino Rossi still desperately needs a good result to recover from his poor start to the season and one Dani Pedrosa will be racing in front of his home crowd once again, this time as a race winner. |
After a spectacular race on Sunday, we see what the riders had to say. Unsurprisingly, for race winner Valentino Rossi it was a Big Deal. Not only did he get a win in front of his home fans and come out on top after a close-fought battle from flag to flag, but the gap between him and the championship lead just shrunk. |
