Yamaha on top after Friday practice in France

Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi have concluded day one of the French GP weekend at the top of the timesheets. The two Camel Yamaha riders completed a 1'35.170 and 1'35.282 respectively ahead of Shinya Nakano on the Kawasaki ZX-RR. The twelve fastest riders were just 1 second apart at an overcast Le Mans circuit.
Valentino Rossi will be hoping that his new chassis will solve some of the issues that have plagued the Yamaha M1 so far this season, and I suppose you would have to say that the signs are promising based on today's performance. Once again the weekend's weather is looking uncertain and it would be impossible to rule out yet another wet qualifying session tomorrow afternoon.
