'Super Shinya' topped the timesheets on Saturday in Jerez by almost half a second, albeit after a quick outing on a qualifying tyre. The Kawasaki was followed by Loris Capirossi in second and John Hopkins in third, with just one Honda in the top 10 in the form of Spaniard Dani Pedrosa. Yamaha too have been having problems during the first two days of the test, with a fix for their chatter problems still undiscovered. Rossi said that his speed in corners is down by as much as 15 or 20kms, evident in the comparatively poor times from the usually front-running Camel Yamaha team. The team are hoping that new Michelin tyres on Sunday along with 'a fiddle with the settings' (Edwards) will bring a difficult and frustrating weekend to a close on a more successful note. Repsol Honda team manager Makoto Tanaka was quick to point out that Honda (in the form of Pedrosa, at least) were the quickest Michelin team of the day, but they certainly were not the quickest Michelin runners in Catalunya last weekend, suggesting that Honda are suffering from more than a small glitch affecting all Michelin teams.
