Having pulled out of the Sepang test just over a week ago with a shoulder injury, Casey Stoner has now undergone surgery. The LCR Honda rider has had a bit of a lucky escape, as he will be fit just in time for the first race of the season in Jerez next month. Although Casey will miss the IRTA tests which precede the start of the season, the Australian was pleased with the outcome, saying "This is brilliant, very positive news and without any complications I'm planning to be at Jerez to ride with the LCR Honda team in the first GP."
"The end of the tendon was frayed and was catching on the bone, like a piece of rope that had been cut. The doctor trimmed up the edges and said I can start physio almost immediately so I should be okay for Jerez. "I was prepared for the worst after the first medical check last week, perhaps being out for a couple months, but the tendon did not need any stitches. "The doctors looked inside with a mini-camera and saw that the injury was not as bad as it could have been." The MotoGP season begins on the 26th of March in Jerez, Spain.
