Marco Melandri was the quickest rider yesterday during the post-race test at the Losail circuit. After spending the day working on the weight distribution of his Honda RCV Melandri was positive, saying he liked the new configuration a lot and that even if the problem is not totally fixed there has been 'a big step forward'. Also out on track were the Camel Yamahas of Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards. Fresh from his race win on Saturday, Rossi once again went out on the 2005 M1 to 'make some comparisons'. In the words of Camel Yamaha's team director Davide Brivio, 'We know that with this bike the situation is different and we don't have vibration, but we also know that the 2006 bike is better in most other ways and has more potential.' Brivio said the day had been useful and that it would hopefully help make sure 'both riders [are] at the front in Turkey'. The Ducati team were also out in force to work on the Desmosedici GP6 and both riders said it'd been a positive day. The team worked on the engine mapping and chassis, introducing small improvements which they hope will be useful in the coming races. Both riders also completed some tyre testing with Bridgestone over the course of the day.
