Today was something of a wasted opportunity for Ducati rider Sete Gibernau, as his Desmosedici GP6 suffered a mechanical problem which cost much of the day. Gibernau completed just 38 laps of the hot and humid Sepang circuit before suffering a gearbox 'glitch' which lost the Spanish rider a lot of track time. At the end of the day Sete's best lap was a 2'03.51, far off the pace of his times at the previous test, likely as a result of the conditions and limited track time. Sete Gibernau - 2'03.51"Today we had a mechanical problem which ruined almost all the time available" said Sete, whose bike suffered a gearbox glitch. "Just before it began to rain I went out on the second bike which was much better, but then the rain brought the test to a halt. We are here to test, and it's better that the problems emerge here rather than in the race!" Loris Capirossi - 2'02.64Capirossi's day proved more successful, although he too completed relatively few laps (38 to be specific). Loris' 2'02.64 was the sixth fastest time posted today, but still remained one second slower than his best lap on race tyres at the previous Sepang test. "I am pretty satisfied with the way things went today" declared Loris. "We continued development work on the bike, concentrating mainly on the set-up to try and obtain the best compromise between agility and stability. We managed to find something good and tomorrow we'll focus on the tyres. The team is working well, and the bike seems to be much improved over last year's machine".
